La VolatA: the black run at Passo San Pellegrino that is the stuff of dreams for skiing enthusiasts

A technical and breathtaking route

La VolatA stretches for approximately 2.4 kilometres with an elevation gain of over 630 metres, offering a succession of walls, bends and slopes that test even the most experienced skiers. The slope descends from Col Margherita to Passo San Pellegrino, offering spectacular views of the Fassa Dolomites and the Marmolada group.

The name 'La VolatA' is no coincidence: it evokes the speed, power and feeling of freedom experienced during the descent. Every section of the course is designed to guarantee thrills, with technical passages and smoother sections alternating at a fast pace.

The champions' slope

In recent years, La VolatA has become a benchmark for international competitive skiing. Athletes from various national alpine skiing teams train here regularly, thanks to the technical characteristics of the slope and the quality of the snow that Passo San Pellegrino offers for most of the winter season.

Since 2020, the slope has also hosted major international competitions, including the Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup races. In the latest editions, held from 6 to 8 March 2026, two downhill races and a Super-G took place.

  • Laura Pirovano won both downhill races, the second by just one hundredth of a second.
  • Elena Curtoni triumphed in the Super-G, with Asja Zenere in third place.

These results have established La VolatA as one of the most popular slopes on the world circuit, capable of offering spectacle and competition at the highest levels.

An experience to be enjoyed

In addition to its sporting value, La VolatA is also one of the most evocative descents for those who want to experience the mountains in all their intensity. The view of the Dolomites, the quality of the snow cover and the perfect preparation of the slope make every descent an unforgettable experience.

Passo San Pellegrino, easily accessible from Moena and Falcade, also offers modern ski lifts, cosy mountain huts and high-level services, making this area an ideal destination for those seeking sport, nature and relaxation.

Fazit
