Rifugio Contrin

The Contrin Refuge is located at the top of the "Val Contrin" of the same name, in Canazei in the Fassa Valley at the foot of the Marmolada Group, with several peaks of over 3,000 meters standing out in its sight, among them Gran Vernel, Piccolo Vernel, Cima Ombretta, Sasso Vernale and Cima Uomo!
It is one of the most spacious refuges in terms of beds in the Fassane Dolomites, its panorama sweeping 360° over the Marmolada and Sassolungo Groups, which are also part of the UNESCO World Heritage, so much so that it has been mentioned in numerous International magazines and publications.
It is located less than 6 km from the town of Alba di Canazei, easily reachable on foot thanks to a dirt road, it becomes a daily destination for countless tourists staying in the neighboring valleys, and it becomes a stop-over and overnight place for several national hiking crossings de not, including the Dolomites high route nr.2, the Munich-Venice, last but not least the international "Via Alpina" route that connects 6 nations all bordering the Alps. Stage arrival also for a MTB circuit - "la Ronda Grande"
It is an excellent starting point for hikes of all levels, from climbing to simply wandering through the woods to discover wild animals, such as roe deer, deer, chamois or the many marmots that crowd the steep slopes of these valleys every day.

The Refuge offers accommodation service both in as private rooms with private sheets and private toilets, and the classic bunks for a low-cost overnight stay, also bar-restaurant service, excellent polenta with roe deer and mushrooms, Tagliatelle with the scent of the forest and strudel or the many homemade cakes with berries...

Let's not forget the history...

Rifugio Contrin at the time an Austrian base, from here they imparted commands to the entire Italian/Austrian border front, even today it is still possible to visit the various trenches and emplacements. So much barbed wire can still be found in these places, and it is not uncommon to find shell casings, shrapnel and other artifacts dating back to World War I.
