How to Get There

Starting from the picturesque town of Pera di Fassa in the beautiful province of Trento, you have two options to reach the charming town of Gardeccia. You can take the Vajolet 1, Vajolet 2 and Pian Pecei chairlifts and set off along the "Path of legends", which will take you to Gardeccia in just 45 minutes. Or, you can opt for the Catinaccio cable car from Vigo di Fassa, followed by a leisurely walk along trail 540 that will take you to the same spot in 45 minutes.

Both options offer similar experiences, with the only difference being that the Rosengarten cable car has longer opening hours. In both cases, you will find parking spaces conveniently available at the two starting locations.

From Gardeccia, the route continues along an easy dirt road, path 546, which will lead you to the Vajolet refuge at 2243 meters above sea level in about an hour. From there, you will take path 542 which climbs up to the Re Alberto 1° refuge at 2621 meters above sea level, a mixed stretch of rocks and gravel. The most challenging passages are equipped with iron ropes to ensure the safety of adults and children who will be able to overcome them without any problem. No via ferrata equipment is required and even the little ones can tackle the route when accompanied by experienced adults. In addition, dogs of all breeds are welcome, as long as they are young and agile.

Choose your route and immerse yourself in the enchanting beauty of Val di Fassa, ready to live an adventurous and unforgettable experience.

Attention! We kindly inform you that Path 542 is the only option to descend from the Re Alberto 1° refuge. In the event that, during the ascent, you find the subsequent descent problematic, we kindly ask you to consider the option of giving up and returning.

The route is classified as medium-easy, with an uphill elevation gain of about 650 meters and an approximate duration of 3 hours. Choose your adventure wisely!
