Rifugio Passo Santner
The Passo Santner Mountain Hut is a modern alpine refuge situated at 2,734 metres in the heart of the Catinaccio massif, in the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rebuilt and reopened in 2023, it offers a 360° panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, including the Latemar, Ortles and the Austrian and Swiss Alps.
Situated below Cima Catinaccio, it can be reached via two main routes: the Santner Via Ferrata from the Fronza Refuge to Coronelle and a steep path from the Val di Fassa passing by the Vajolet and Re Alberto I refuges. The via ferrata requires experience, suitable equipment and a head for heights.
The refuge, open in summer, offers catering services and beds by reservation, allowing visitors to experience a sunrise or sunset at high altitude. Easily accessible via cable cars and public transport, the area is well connected and is a popular destination for experienced hikers, further enhanced by the legend of King Laurin’s Rose Garden, which lends a special charm to the landscape at sunset. In summary, the Passo Santner Refuge is a modern and sustainable facility, set in a natural environment of great beauty, accessible via trails of varying difficulty and equipped with facilities for mountain enthusiasts.
